Am I not so much a reader, is that taken from me?
I dunk my head in the sea of books, but remain dry
Now a library should be a garden, with living friends
But now the library is a mausoleum, I’ll never bring the life
In class, I sit dead among the breathing
I want to rise again, not to our old life but the better
Without gossip and grumbling, with clear eyes and consciences
My tonsure and robe outgrown by the living learning
Meeting the Word for a lesson.
