Eddie Freeman
Baseball fields.
She came to grade the boys
She came to lick her lips at the boys
We were young, in school. She was 28
I didn’t understand her completely,
But I knew there was nothing
that wrong.
We talked like two people.
17. I already had my heart broken and lost my virginity.
I figured this made me wiser then her.
She like our energy, our aggression, our hopes.
We were wild.
She took me to her apartment.
“You are not as dumb as the other boys I have had over here.”
She said flatly. “You’re smart for 17. I just want to have fun,
We don’t need to talk all the time.”
On the baseball field this woman had been in my heart.
In her apartment I thought of desiring her on the baseball field.
“Now we are here. Just close your eyes and think whatever.”
I went to dream land. Jesus was there.
I wanted to run from her apartment
To save my soul the heart ache.
Demons were scary.
“I don’t think I can do this.”
We were just two people who both had a lot to learn about
Life and sex. Monsters and hell.
Both of us were in charge.
She came over to my house.
“Wow I am in a little boys room.”
She laughed hysterically.
“Does this mean I drink too much?”
